Daredevils sign Karnataka stumper Gautam

Bangalore, Feb 12: Delhi Daredevils have signed Karnataka wicketkeeper-batsman CM Gautam for the sixth edition of Indian Premier League (IPL 6).

Gautam, who had a successful Ranji Trophy season with his state team, was on Monday (February 11) confirmed as a Daredevils player.

"I was in consultation with two more teams but choosing Daredevils made more sense to me because there is just one more wicketkeeper - Naman Ojha - in their side," Gautam told "Deccan Herald" newspaper.

The 26-year-old right-hander was with Royal Challengers Bangalore and was released from the team last November.

Gautam scored 943 runs in this season of Ranji Trophy, including a double hundred. He was the highest run scorer for Karnataka this season.

The youngster is also a part of India A squad to face Australia in a three-day practice game from February 16.

IPL 6 will start on April 3.
