Tendulkar reaches another milestone

Chennai, Feb 23: Reaching milestones is not new to Sachin Tendulkar. And the Master Blaster crossed another one during the first Test against Australia at MA Chidambaram Stadium on Saturday.


Tendulkar, who scored a half century on the second day of the Test, completed 7,000 Test runs in India. He is the highest scorer in India while overall the record belongs to Ricky Ponting who has more than 7,500 runs in Australia.

Tendulkar, who made his Test debut against Pakistan in 1989, is playing in his 195th Test. In recent times, he has been under pressure but he looked fluent on Saturday.

During today's innings he also completed 3,500 runs against Australia in 36 Tests. He is second behind England's Jack Hobbs who scored 3,636 runs against the Aussies.

The 39-year-old Tendulkar crossed 7,000 Test runs in his 89th match at an average of 54.26. The next best Indian is Rahul Dravid with 5,598 runs. In 102 matches away from home, Tendulkar has over 8,000 runs.
