R Ashwin fined for flaunting four logos

Chennai, Feb 25: India's Ravichandran Ashwin has been fined 10% of his match fees for breaching the ICC code of conduct on day three of the first Test against Australia on Sunday.

Having breached Article 2.1.1 of ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel which relates to "breach of the ICC's clothing and equipment regulations during an international match", the Tamil Nadu off-spinner was fined 10% of his match fees.

R Ashwin was seen flaunting four logos on the straps of his batting pads, which exceeded the permitted number of manufacturers' logo, according to ICC rules.

The off-spinner who has been the highest wicket-taker for India in the Test match against Australia also admitted that he had breached the code of conduct and accepted Level 1 charge having flaunted four logos on the batting pads.

On field umpires Marais Erasmus, Kumar Dharmasena and third umpire Vineet Kulkarni noticed the same as match referee Chris Broad of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees imposed a fine on R Ashwin.
