Chennai, Feb 27: Former spinner Shane Warne met eight members of the Australian team, including captain Michael Clarke after the first Test defeat to India and is reported to have offered them tips on how to bounce back from the eight-wicket loss.
Warne, who is part of the TV commentary team for the four-match series, is reported to have had a mid-pitch meeting with Clarke, coach Mickey Arthur and other members of the team.
India defeated Australia by eight wickets on Tuesday at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. All 20 Australian wickets fell to spin and Ashwin was the wrecker-in-chief with 12.
"After watching the tourists crash to an eight-wicket loss at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Warne, commentating on the series, made his way onto the field to dispense pearls of wisdom with the Australian camp.
An eight-strong contingent spoke for about 20 minutes. Skipper Michael Clarke, who regards Warne among his cricketing mentors, coach Mickey Arthur and assistant Steve Rixon listened on, with Clarke and Arthur having input as Warne was seen regularly gesticulating," Australia's "Herald Sun" newspaper reported on Wednesday.
The report stated that Warne "politely declined to divulge details."
The second Test starts in Hyderabad on March 2.
