Hyderabad, Mar 1: Before the first Test against India in Chennai, Australia named their playing XI two days in advance. But on the eve of the second Test here, captain Michael Clarke and the team management are still searching to find the right combination.
Speaking to reporters on Friday, Clarke said they have still not decided on the XI. "I've not had the chance to look at the wicket today so the coach (Mickey Arthur), myself and (selector) John (Inverarity) will talk at the end of the day once we've all seen the conditions. So we want to give ourselves the best chance after we see the pitch today," Clarke said.
"I'd like to name it (XI) as soon as possible but would like to see the wicket if it's any different today. I have to communicate with the rest of the players so that they know what it is and then we'll tell the media," he added.
Australia went in with one spinner in Nathan Lyon for the first Test and might think of a second option in Xavier Doherty in Hyderabad.
