Bangalore, Mar 1: India's opening woes continue to torment, irrespective of the selectors' decision to include Murali Vijay and Shikhar Dhawan in the squad.

Following Murali Vijay's dismal show in the first Test against Australia in Chennai, team management could give Shikhar Dhawan a Test debut in Hyderabad, as the left-handed opener has piled 833 runs this season, which includes 4 first-class centuries.

Will Vijay make way for Shikhar Dhawan?

Murali Vijay scored 16 runs in both the innings before being dismissed by James Pattinson, Australia's best bowler in the first Test, as others conceded more runs and failed to claim wickets.

If Murali Vijay had disappointed the selectors, Virender Sehwag also continued to struggle as he made scores of 2, 19 in the first Test which has raised doubts over his performance and could not fetch him a place in the team for long.

Since selectors wanted consistency in the top order, they dropped Gautam Gambhir, since he had averaged a mere 34.33 in Tests in the last twelve months and with scores of 0, 83, 31, 14, 34, 3, 22, 2, 34, 45, 4, 65, 60, 40, 37 in the last 15 Test innings,it was evident that the left-handed batsman had been struggling to strike form.

Having picked Shikhar Dhawan and Murali Vijay for the first two Tests, the team managent would like to try Shikhar Dhawan while they take on Australia at Hyderabad on Saturday.

Since they have won the first Test by 8 wickets, the team management would also look at playing the winning combination, which further raises doubts over handing Shikhar Dhawan a Test debut and will be kept waiting?
