Mohali, Mar 11: Former Australian cricketers slammed the team's decision to sack four players on disciplinary grounds ahead of the third Test against India.
On Monday, Shane Watson, Mitchell Johnson, Usman Khawaja and James Pattinson were dumped from the squad for third Test as they failed to do an assignment given by coach Mickey Arthur.
"What are we doing ????? Cricket ????," questioned former batsman Darren Lehmann on Twitter.
"Adults we are, not schoolboys! Please let's act properly and make good decisions in India! Need these boys playing," he added.
"What are they on, a schoolboy tour?," former Australia captain Allan Border told Fox Sports.
"I don't see the logic in this. It is way over the top. It seems too strong a measure for coach and captain to take."
Former batsman Mark Waugh called it "stupid."
"I've never heard anything so stupid in all my life. It's not under 6s - this is Test cricket," Waugh said.
