Mohali, Mar 11: Former Australian legspinner Shane Warne has termed the axing of four players as "ridiculous" and wants captain Michael Clarke to have the final say in selection matters.
On Monday, Australia coach Mickey Arthur dumped four players Shane Watson, James Pattinson, Usman Khawaja and Mithchell Johnson for not completing a presentation. The four won't be considered for selection for the third Test in Mohali against India. An angry Watson left the tour few hours later.
Reacting to the news a few hours later, Warne tweeted that coach should not be a selector and his job was to only help the players prepare for the game.
"As I have always said the coach should not be a selector. He should communicate well with the players & help them prepare, that's it !"
"Re the issue of 4 players being unavailable for Aust selection due to not delivering homework or a report to the coach, the answer is simple"
"The Capt runs the team & in conjunction with the selectors picks the team. The Capt should always have final say.Ridiculous what's happening" Warne wrote on his twitter page (@warne888).
