Dhawan hits fastest century on debut

Mohali, Mar 16: India opener Shikhar Dhawan created history by scoring the fastest-ever century on debut on day 3 of the third Test against Australia in Mohali.

Dhawan's incredible ton came off just 85 balls with 21 boundaries and became the 13th Indian cricketer to score a century on debut.

Dhawan broke the record of West Indies batsman Dwayne Smith who reached his 100 off 93 balls against South Africa at Newlands, Cape Town in January 2004.

In the process, Dhawan also became the highest individual scorer for India on debut, beating the previous record held by Gundappa Vishwanath (137) against Australia at the Eden Gardens in 1969-70.
