Zaheer likely to miss RCB's opening game

Bangalore, Apr 3: There are doubts over the availability of fast bowler Zaheer Khan for Royal Challengers Bangalore's IPL 6 opening match against Mumbai Indians here on Thursday (April 4).

RCB's Match Schedule

Zaheer, who has been out of competitive cricket for more than three months due to a calf injury, has been involved in light training with RCB at M Chinnaswamy Stadium ahead of IPL 6. However, he is yet to bowl at full pace and was seen only taking part in sprints at RCB training camp.

On March 29, under the watchful eyes of physio Ashish Kaushik, he took part in sprints.

When RCB players took to the ground on Tuesday evening (April 2), Zaheer was missing. The left-arm paceman had sustained a calf injury during Mumbai's Ranji Trophy match in December, 2012. That injury kept him out of the remaining Ranji games including the final which Mumbai won against Saurashtra.

Though there is still no official confirmation from RCB team management, in all likelihood Zaheer will miss his team's opening game at home.
