Bangalore, Apr 5: It was a thriller at M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Thursday night (April 4). And the home team Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) held their nerve to clinch a two-run win over Mumbai Indians in a last-ball finish of the second match of IPL 2013.
R Vinay Kumar bowled a superb final over where Mumbai needed 10 runs with seven wickets in hand. The paceman took two wickets in two balls and later when four was required off the last ball, conceded just one run to hand RCB their first win over Mumbai at this venue.

# RCB defended 156 runs to snatch a two-run victory in front of a full house
# The win was set up by Chris Gayle's unbeaten 92 off 58 balls and Vinay (3/27 in four overs)
# Mumbai needed 10 runs off the final over bowled by Vinay. On the first ball, Ambati Rayudu and Dinesh Karthik stole a bye while the next ball saw Karthik being dismissed.
# On the third ball Rayudu was bowled. The hat-trick delivery was negotiated by Harbhajan Singh for a single and Kieron Pollard was on strike for the final two balls where eight runs were needed.
# Pollard smashed a low full toss to the straight boundary. The ball was about just a centimetre from hitting the rope on the full. After seeing replays, third umpire K Srinath confirmed that it was a four as the ball just landed inside the boundary
# With 4 needed off the last ball, Pollard managed just one run
# Karthik was Mumbai's top scorer with 60 runs off 37 balls. He hit 3 fours and 4 sixes
# For the first time in IPL history, Ricky Ponting and Sachin Tendulkar batted together as openers. They did well as their partnership was 52 runs in 7.3 overs
# The 17th over bowled by Daniel Christian was the most expensive over for Mumbai innings. Karthik hit Christian for three successive sixes and the over produced 24 runs
# In the last three overs, Mumbai needed 27 runs to win
# 17 were needed off 12 balls and left-arm fast bowler Jaydev Unadkat bowled a tight 19th over with just 7 runs
# RCB's total of 156 was built around Gayle's knock. At one stage RCB were reeling at 80/5 in 12.4 overs
# For most part of his innings, Gayle batted with an injury to his left leg as he collided with Harbhajan Singh
# Gayle hit 11 fours and five sixes
# Debutant Jasprit Bumrah was excellent with the ball. The right-arm paceman from Gujarat took 3/32 in four overs
# The 19-year-old Bumrah was signed by Mumbai this year
# RCB scored 56 runs in the last five overs. After 10 overs they were 59/3 and 100/5 in 15 overs
# After 10 overs, Mumbai were 62/2. At the end of 15 overs they were 96/3, needing 61 off 30 balls
# Zaheer Khan missed the game as he has not fully recovered from calf injury
