St.John's (Antigua), Apr 6: Congratulations continue to come in for Jamaican businessman Dave Cameron who was elected new president of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) last week.
Both the Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) and the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) Thursday (April 4) joined other regional boards in applauding Cameron who defeated incumbent Julian Hunte in a close election in Barbados, reports CMC.
"The Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) is excited about your recent election to the positions of president and vice president respectively of the West Indies Cricket Board as despite your success coming at a time when challenges are varied and many," said JCA secretary Fritz Harris in a letter to Cameron and vice president Emmanuel Nanthan.
"We are confident based on the clear vision enunciated in your manifesto and your proven ability, that you both pack the necessary tools to get the job done against the most formidable opposition."
Cameron, who was nominated by the JCA and seconded by the Windward Islands Cricket Board (WICB), defeated Hunte 7 votes to 5 after the St.Lucian had served in the position for six years.
"We encourage you and the vice president to be inclusive, uniting, inspiring and fair," said Harris.
"We at the JCA commit to be always at the ready to fully support your initiatives and endeavours as we join hands in continuing the re-building of the great West Indian product and the development of cricket as an industry in the region."
