Mumbai, Apr 6: Virender Sehwag's future as an international player looked over after the selectors on Saturday did not include the veteran opener in the 30-man probables list for Champions Trophy. Also, Harbhajan Singh and Zaheer Khan were not among the probables.
Champions Trophy, the 50-over tournament, will be held in England this year in June. Sehwag, who was dropped from both ODI and Test teams recently, has failed now to make the cut in India's best 30 list.
The selection committee headed by Sandeep Patil, however, gave chance of youngsters by including Under-19 World Cup winning captain Unmukt Chand and Kashmir all-rounder Parvez Rassol. Ambati Rayudu is also there. Irfan Pathan, R Vinay Kumar, Praveen Kumar, Dinesh Karthik are also in.
Left-handed opener Gautam Gambhir was also in the list. However, Cheteshwar Pujara did not find a place.
This list will be pruned to 15 later. India are in Group B with Pakistan, South Africa and West Indies. The top eight ODI teams in the world will contest for the Trophy. This will be the last and final edition of Champions Trophy as ICC has decided to scrap the tournament after this.
India's first match is against South Africa on June 6. They take on West Indies on June 11 and Pakistan on June 15.
