Bangalore, Apr 30: India batsman Virat Kohli has been nominated for the prestigious Arjuna Award by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), it was reported on Tuesday.
Kohli is the lone name sent by the Indian cricket board for the 2012 Arjuna Award. However, former India captain Sunil Gavaskar is also nominated by BCCI for Dhyanchand award for lifetime achievement honour.
"The Times of India" newspaper, on Tuesday, reported that both Kohli and Gavaskar's names were sent by BCCI. The report added that the last date for submitting names was Tuesday (April 30).
Kohli's rise as an international batsman has been phenomenal. He has scored heavily in all forms of the game and continues to dazzle in the current edition of Indian Premier League (IPL 2013).
