Mumbai, May 16: Paceman S Sreesanth's father Shanthakumaran Nair has blamed India captain MS Dhoni and offspinner Harbhajan Singh for being part of a conspiracy in getting the fast bowler arrested in IPL spot-fixing scandal.
On Thursday, Rajasthan Royals' Sreesanth, Ankeet Chavan and Ajit Chandila were arrested for their alleged involvement in spot-fixing.
Sreesanth's father has backed his son and claims he is innocent and is victim of conspiracy.
"Dhoni and Harbhajan conspired to finish his cricketing career," Nair was quoted as saying by "Hindustan Times" newspaper.
"The latter had executed this with the help of a deputy superintendent of police in Punjab. Dhoni had threatened him recently that he won't don the Indian cap again."
"He is innocent. A committed player, he will be the last person to do this," said Madhu Balakrishnan, Sreesanth's brother-in-law and a leading playback singer.
