A win for SRH on Friday will make the task even tougher for RCB to reach the playoffs. In such a scenario RCB will have to win their final game at home against Chennai Super Kings on Saturday and hope SRH lose their last league outing on Sunday against Kolkata Knight Riders.
At the moment, RCB (net run rate +0.387) and SRH (net run rate -0.117) are on 16 points but the Bangalore team has played a game more (15 to 14). The best RCB can do for qualification is win their final league game and hope SRH lose one of theirs.
Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals have already qualified.
Here is how RCB and SRH can make the playoffs
1. If SRH lose both their final league games, it becomes easier route for RCB into playoffs. If SRH are beaten in their 2 matches and even if RCB lose to CSK, they will be through on superior net run rate. Even if Kings XI Punjab win their last game (Vs Mumbai Indians on Saturday) and tie RCB with 16 points, they will find it tough to edge them on run rate.
2. If SRH win tonight against RR, then RCB have to succeed against CSK. But still they will have to wait till Sunday to know their fate. A win against CSK will take RCB to 18 points. Assuming, SRH win on Friday and Sunday, then they will qualify for the playoffs with 20 points.
3. If SRH lose today and RCB also end up without points on Saturday, again the 4th team for playoffs will be known only on Sunday. A SRH win on Sunday night will make them qualify but a loss will put RCB ahead.
