Hyderabad, May 17: Sunrisers Hyderabad kept their playoffs hopes alive with a 23-run victory over Rajasthan Royals in Match 68 of IPL 2013 here on Friday night. SRH overtook Royal Challengers Bangalore and moved to 4th in the points table with one game to play against Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday. SRH's win means RCB have to defeat Chennai Super Kings on Saturday to remain in playoffs hunt.
Left-arm paceman James Faulkner's record five-wicket haul went in vain for RR. His superb 5/16 in 4 overs (1 maiden) restricted SRH to 136/9 in 20 overs. It was due to Biplab Samantray's 55 that SRH managed to score 136. In reply, Amit Mishra (2/8 in 4 overs) was outstanding and the home team restricted RR to 113/9 in 20 overs.
The victory for SRH has knocked Kings XI Punjab out of playoffs race. Also, it confirms Qualifier 1 will be between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings on May 21 in Delhi. At the same venue, on May 22, Eliminator will be contested between Rajasthan Royals and SRH or RCB.
