New Delhi, May 22: Mumbai Indians batsman Dinesh Karthik has been fined 5% of his match fee for breaching the Indian Premier League (IPL) Code of Conduct during the Qualifier match against Chennai Super Kings at Feroz Shah Kotla Ground on Tuesday night (May 21).
Karthik admitted to the Level 1 offence (Article 2.1.3) of showing dissent at an umpire's decision during the match, a media statement from IPL said.
For Level 1 breaches of the IPL Code of Conduct, the Match Referee's decision is final and binding, the statement added.
Karthik was adjudged LBW to Ravindra Jadeja in the 11th over of the game. Unhappy with the decision, Karthik showed his bat to the umpire suggesting that he had hit the ball but replays were inconclusive.
Mumbai Indians lost to CSK by 48 runs. They will now play in Qualifier 2 on Friday in Kolkata. The winner of Eliminator between Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad will face MI.
