Chennai, May 23: Mumbai police on Thursday summoned Gurunath Meiyappan, the CEO of Chennai Super Kings, for questioning in IPL betting scandal.
On Thursday afternoon, Mumbai police arrived at Meiyappan's Chennai home but the son-in-law of BCCI president N Srinivasan was not at his residence. Police served summons to Meiyappan to appear for questioning in Mumbai on Friday between 11AM and 5PM.
Joint Commissioner Crime Branch of Mumbai, Himanshu Roy asked Meiyappan to appear before crime branch in Mumbai between 11 am and 5 pm tomorrow (Friday), PTI reported.
Bollywood actor Vindoo Dara Singh has admitted to have been in touch with Meiyappan and placed bets on IPL matches, reports said.
"Vindoo made several calls to this relative of the Chennai IPL owner. We may call the person in question to ascertain the reasons why these frequent calls were made," an officer involved in the investigation told PTI.
On Thursday evening, "Times Now" English news channel reported that Meiyappan was "untraceable."
Amid all the controversy around Meiyappan, Srinivasan has remained silent.
