In the previous five editions, we have seen 4 teams taking the trophy with CSK being the only side to have won it twice (2010 and 2011). Rajasthan Royals won the inaugural edition in 2008 while Deccan Chargers (now defunct) took the top honours in 2009 in South Africa. We had new champions in Kolkata Knight Riders last year.

IPL 1 (Rajasthan Royals champions) Scorecard
Final on June 1, 2008: At Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy stadium in Mumbai, Rajasthan Royals won the first edition of IPL. It was a thrilling final where RR won by 3 wickets on the last ball of the match chasing 164 against CSK.
IPL 2 (Deccan Chargers) Scorecard
Final on May 24, 2009: At the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, Deccan Chargers successfully defended their score of 143 against Royal Challengers Bangalore. RCB were restricted to 137/9 in 20 overs.
IPL 3 (Chennai Super Kings) Scorecard
Final on April 25, 2010: Mumbai's Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy stadium hosted its second final in three years and home side Mumbai Indians could not gift their fans with a victory. CSK made 168 and kept MI to 146.
IPL 4 (Chennai Super Kings) Scorecard
Final on May 28, 2011: Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium was the venue and the home team CSK marched their way to second title with a crushing 58-run triumph over RCB.
IPL 5 (Kolkata Knight Riders) Scorecard
Final on May 27, 2012: Once again, MA Chidambaram Stadium was picked to host the final and CSK faltered in their bid to complete a hat-trick. KKR, with the help of Manvinder Bisla and Jacques Kallis, successfully chased down a big target of 191.
