Mumbai Indians, after winning the IPL 6 final against Chennai Super Kings by 23 runs, were awarded the glittering trophy by Srinivasan. However, a close look at the video footage shows Tendulkar being little away from the BCCI chief while he stepped ahead to hand the trophy to MI captain Rohit Sharma at the Eden Gardens.
Tendulkar was away from Rohit and Ricky Ponting, who were standing close to Srinivasan. Noticing Tendulkar away from the action, Harbhajan Singh called him first to come closer but the Master Blaster said something. But Harbhajan, holding his hand, pulled Tendulkar towards Rohit and Ponting. By the time Tendulkar was brought in, Srinivasan had presented the trophy to Rohit and Ponting and moved aside.
Srinivasan was also not received well by the Kolkata crowd which booed him at the presentation ceremony.
Did Tendulkar deliberately stay away to avoid the BCCI chief? This question was floating around in some TV news channels.
Srinivasan has been under fire for refusing to give up his position after his son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan was arrested by Mumbai police for allegedly placing bets on CSK matches.
Tendulkar is yet to make any comments on the spot-fixing scam in IPL. However, by his gesture was he giving a hint to Srinivasan that he also backs the decision that he should relinquish his post?
