Tendulkar to own Mumbai badminton team?

Mumbai, June 20: Sachin Tendulkar is all set to make his entry into badminton. No, he isn't playing the sport but will own a team in the Indian Badminton League (IBL), according to a newspaper report on Thursday.

The million-dollar IBL which opens in August this year with six city franchises, will see Tendulkar owning the Mumbai team.

"DNA" reported that Tendulkar has bought Mumbai franchise and named it as "Mumbai Masters."

"I would say it is too early, and I would not like to take any names, but a prominent cricketer will be the owner of the Mumbai team," a source was quoted as saying in the report.

Olympic bronze medallist Saina Nehwal is one of the icon players of the league which is set to get under way on August 14 and will run till August 31. Mumbai, New Delhi, Pune, Lucknow, Hyderabad and Bangalore will be the teams. Total prize money will be $1 million and players' auction will be held on June 30.
