Birmingham, June 24: India opener Shikhar Dhawan has dedicated his "Golden Bat" award in the Champions Trophy to the victims of floods in the state of Uttarakhand.
Floods in Uttarakhand have left nearly 1,000 dead and many are still stranded as rescue operations continue. Though India captain MS Dhoni and others failed to make a mention of the tragedy back home, Dhawan did not forget those hit by the natural calamity.
"I would like to dedicate my performance (Golden Bat) to the people who have lost their lives back home due to the flood. My prayers are with them," Dhawan said after receiving the award on Sunday (June 23).
India defeated England by 5 runs to capture the Champions Trophy 2013 at Edgbaston.
