Bangalore, July 10: Former India batsman GR Viswanath will be conferred with an honorary doctorate by Bangalore University.
Viswanath will be the second former Indian cricketer from Karnataka to get an honorary doctorate in recent times. A few days back, former India captain Anil Kumble received honorary doctorate from the University of Mysore.
Viswanath, 64, described today as the most "unforgettable day" after receiving a call from an official from Bangalore University earlier today (July 10).
"It is an unforgettable day today," Viswanath told ThatsCricket.
"It is a great feeling to be getting an honorary doctorate from Bangalore University. I have received several awards before in my career and today's honour also ranks with the rest," Viswanath, who was famous for his late cut, added.
Viswanath played 91 Tests for India and scored 6,080 runs with 14 centuries.
