New Delhi, July 16: India batsman Sachin Tendulkar has been dropped by Indian Air Force (IAF) as its brand ambassador.
According to a report on "India Today" magazine's website on Tuesday, the Master Blaster has been replaced with the basic trainer aircraft Pilatus after their association failed to yield the desired results. With Pilatus, IAF is hoping to attract more personnel.
IAF has now ended its two-year association with Tendulkar. IAF, through Tendulkar, had aimed to motivate younger generation but the cricketer was not able to fulfill expectations.
In September 2010, Tendulkar was conferred with an honorary rank of Group Captain by IAF. He is the first sportsperson to be conferred a rank by IAF and also the first without aviation background to get the honour.
Tendulkar retired from ODIs in December last year. He is now gearing up to play his 200th Test which could happen in January, 2014.
