Kohli can become great captain: Jennings

Mumbai, July 25: Royal Challengers Bangalore's coach Ray Jennings has compared the "aggressive" Virat Kohli to an Australian and reckons he has "all the makings of a great captain."

Jennings has closely watched Kohli's progress as a batsman and captain of the Bangalore IPL franchise. In this year's IPL, Kohli was appointed as RCB's full-time skipper replacing Daniel Vettori.

In an interview to "DNA" newspaper on Wednesday (July 24), Jennings described Kohli as a "very different kind of a leader."

"Virat is a very different kind of a leader. He is someone who leads from the front, someone who loves to make significant contributions with the bat and as a fielder. He has all the makings of a great captain," he told the newspaper.

On queried about Kohli being "un-Indian", Jennings said: "Yeah, Indians are calm. You can compare Virat to, say, the Aussies. Like them, he is aggressive. He is not your normal Indian guy. But the good thing is he loves responsibility. And I have seen him speak to players at RCB. He helps them set goals and makes sure they work towards those goals."

On Wednesday, Kohli hit his 15th ODI century to guide India to six-wicket win over Zimbabwe. This was the Delhi batsman's second ton as India captain.
