Ranchi, July 26: India captain MS Dhoni returned home on Thursday (July 25) from the US, where had been holidaying for few days with his wife Sakshi.
Dhoni, after giving India the Celkon Mobile Cup tri-series in the Caribbean, had been on vacation in New York since playing that final against Sri Lanka in Port of Spain on July 11.
In a thrilling last-over finish, Dhoni secured victory for India in the final. He hit 6, 4 and another 6 to win with two balls to spare and one wicket.
A day after the victory, Dhoni had tweeted that it was vacation time and wanted not to be disturbed.
"Goodbye west indies,carrying fond memories back with me. DND as its vacation time.much needed time off," Dhoni had tweeted on July 12.
The wicketkeeper-batsman has returned home for the first time after winning both Champions Trophy and the tri-series. After the Champions Trophy win, the team had left for tri-series from England.
By winning the Champions Trophy, Dhoni became the first captain in history to have claimed all ICC global trophies. He had led India to World T20 2007 and World Cup 2011 titles before Champions Trophy 2013.
Dhoni will enjoy an extended break from cricket as there are no matches scheduled for him this month and also in August. Currently, India is led by Virat Kohli in the five-match ODI series against Zimbabwe. India won the first game on Wednesday (July 24). Dhoni was rested for this tour.
Champions League Twenty20 (CLT20) will be held in September and October. Dhoni will be seen leading Chennai Super Kings there. CLT20 starts on September 17.
Australia will arrive in India for one T20I and seven ODIs in October and November. After this, Team India will embark on a tough tour of South Africa.
