CA-Arthur reach confidential settlement

Melbourne, July 31: Cricket Australia (CA) and sacked coach Mickey Arthur have reached a confidential settlement on Wednesday, a media release from CA said.

Arthur's contract as Australia's head coach was terminated by CA before the Ashes series. The South African had threatened legal action demanding $4 million as compensation or be reinstated, according to reports. However, CA and Arthur have managed to resolve the issue through talks.

Following Arthur's sacking, CA appointed former Test batsman Darren Lehmann as coach. Australia are currently trailing 0-2 against England in the five-match Ashes series. The third Test starts tomorrow.

Here is Cricket Australia and Mickey Arthur's Joint Statement

"Cricket Australia (CA) and Mickey Arthur are pleased to announce that they have reached a confidential settlement.

Both Mickey and CA agree that it is unfortunate that the dispute was not settled prior to the issuing of legal proceedings.

Both parties agree that a resolution now is in the interests of the Australian cricket team and cricket generally in Australia.

Cricket Australia appreciates the efforts that Mickey applied to his coaching role, and wishes him the very best in his future career."
