Sydney, July 31: Former Australia fast bowler Glenn McGrath has been immortalised in wax at Madame Tussauds wax museum here.

McGrath was voted by the Australian public as their favorite sporting celebrity to be immortalised in wax. The Australian legend's statue is placed alongside other famous cricketers Don Bradman, Shane Warne and Sachin Tendulkar.

On Wednesday, McGrath posed next to his statue. The statue shows McGrath's bowling action.

"It's just so life-like, they even put every strand of hair individually, which took around six weeks," McGrath was quoted as saying by "NDTV". McGrath is dressed in 2006-2007 Ashes series whites.

"To be voted and seeing the finished product makes it that little bit more special. I think it means that little bit more to me because people wanted me in here," he added.

Senior sculptor David Gardiner led the team that made the statue. "We took some motion capture videos of McGrath doing his bowling action, which was really interesting for us to sculpt," Gardiner said.
