Bulawayo, Aug 3: India created history here in Bulawayo by completing a 5-0 series victory over Zimbabwe on Saturday. Virat Kohli-led India won the fifth and final ODI by seven wickets for a clean sweep.
It was for the first time in India's ODI history that they had achieved a clean sweep of a five-match series away from home. Overall India succeeded in a whitewash of a five-game rubber for the fourth time.
Under new captain Virat Kohli, the team dominated right from the start and in the fifth and final ODI too the same performance was on view.
The architect of today's win was legspinner Amit Mishra, who took his career best 6/48. He also equalled the world record for most wickets in a bilateral series with 18. He rightly won the Man-of-the-match award.
Previously, India have won ODI series by 5-0 margin at home on three occasions. But this was the first on foreign soil.
Kohli, in his first full series as skipper, has entered history books. Regular captain MS Dhoni was rested for this tour.
