England retained the Ashes on Monday (August 5) after the third Test ended in a draw at Old Trafford.
The hosts lead the five-match series 2-0 with the fourth Test starting on August 9 at Chester-le-Street.
National Selector Geoff Miller said: "While the players should be congratulated on retaining the Ashes there is still a lot of cricket left in this series and it is important that the players recover and refocus ahead of another crucial week of Test cricket.
"The inclusion of Graham Onions and Chris Tremlett gives Andy Flower and Alastair Cook an opportunity to assess both the fitness of the bowling attack following the third Test as well as the conditions at Durham."
England squad for fourth Test: Alastair Cook (captain), James Anderson, Jonny Bairstow, Ian Bell, Tim Bresnan, Stuart Broad, Graham Onions, Kevin Pietersen, Matt Prior (wk), Joe Root, Graeme Swann, Chris Tremlett, Jonathan Trott.
