Pretoria, Aug 12: Australia fast bowler Pat Cummins has returned home from the team's 'A' tour of South Africa, Cricket Australia (CA) said on Monday.
CA said Cummins returned to Australia to receive further assessment and treatment on a lower rib/back injury.
Australia A's physiotherapist Kevin Sims said: "Pat reported some left rib/back pain during the Australia 'A' game against India A last week. With only Wednesday's final remaining in the series, the decision was made for him to return to Australia to assess the injury."
Australia A are playing a tri-series one-day tournament involving hosts South Africa A and India A. Australia reached the final on Sunday, beating India. Cummins was not part of the Playing XI in Sunday's game.
Cummins, 20, has been sidelined by injuries in the past. He has so far played 1 Test, 5 One Day Internationals and 11 Twenty20 Internationals for Australia. The right-arm paceman made his Test debut as an 18-year-old against South Africa in November 2011.
