On Monday (August 12), Dhawan hit the second best individual score in limited overs cricket while playing for India A against South Africa A in Pretoria.
For India, Dhawan is the third double centurion in one-dayers. He joined Sachin Tendulkar (200 not out) and Virender Sehwag (219). Tendulkar and Sehwag's feats came in One Day Internationals.
"It did cross my mind that I joined Sachin paaji and Viru paaji in scoring a double century in a one-day game," Dhawan told BCCI's official website bcci.tv on Monday night.
"A couple of years ago I scored 184 against South Africa A and I'm glad that I could get past the 200-run mark this time.
"However, those were two of the greatest innings in cricket history and they came at the international level. So, they are much bigger than my innings," he added.
On asked to pick the favourite among the three Indian double centuries, Dhawan said it is difficult.
"I've always loved watching Sachin paaji and Viru paaji bat. But I love my batting as well. So, it's difficult for me to pick one favourite knock of the three," he said.
Dhawan rued the fact that Indian cricket fans could not watch his knock on TV as the match was not telecast live on any channels.
"This will remain one of my favourite matches because I scored 200 for the first time in a 50-over game. Unfortunately it didn't come live on the television but that's fine because I loved batting," he said.
