Bangalore, Aug 15: India captain MS Dhoni will join Sachin Tendulkar, Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar, Sourav Ganguly and many other cricket stars at the Karnataka State Cricket Association's (KSCA) Platinum Jubilee celebrations here on Saturday (August 17).
KSCA officials had previously announced that Tendulkar will be part of the "Gala Awards Night" at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday. Now, Dhoni is also set to be there. A KSCA official confirmed to ThatsCricket that Dhoni will be arriving for the gala night.
It will be a special evening as India's two World Cup winning captains Kapil and Dhoni will share the stage.
Former New Zealand fast bowler Sir Richard Hadlee will be the lone foreign player to grace the occasion. His presence has a historic significance as it was here at Chinnaswamy Stadium in 1989 that the bowler broke Ian Botham's Test record for most wickets. Hadlee dismissed Arun Lal for his 374th wicket.
"The gala awards night will see the likes of Gavaskar, Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, my favourite Kapil Dev, Bishan Singh Bedi and Sir Richard Hadlee, who got his record 374th Test wicket at this very venue," KSCA secretary Javagal Srinath said recently.
KSCA will honour several cricketers at the "Gala Awards Night", which will bring the curtains down on the association's platinum jubilee celebrations.
List of cricketers to be present at KSCA's "Gala Awards Night": Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, Sourav Ganguly, Sunil Gavaskar, Sir Richard Hadlee, Bishan Singh Bedi, Anil Kumble, Venkatesh Prasad, Virender Sehwag, Rahul Dravid, EAS Prasanna, Syed Kirmani, BS Chandrasekhar, GR Viswanath, Sunil Joshi, Vijay Bharadwaj.
