Ashes: Tim Bresnan ruled out for season

London, Aug 16: England paceman Tim Bresnan has been ruled out of the remainder of Ashes series and also the rest of home international season due to a stress fracture in his lower back.

Bresnan was part of the ongoing Ashes squad. He played three Tests in the series, which England are leading 3-0 with the final Test at The Oval from August 21. The 28-year-old took 10 wickets in 3 Tests in the series and scored 103 runs with a highest of 45.

After the fifth and final Test, England and Australia will be involved in a five-match One Day International series.

"England and Yorkshire pace bowler Tim Bresnan has been ruled out of the remainder of the international season with a stress fracture in his lower back," England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said in a statement on Thursday (August 15).

"Bresnan will begin a recovery and rehabilitation programme and a date for his return to cricket will be determined in due course," ECB added.
