Singapore, Aug 20: Half centuries from captain Suryakumar Yadav, Unmukt Chand and KL Rahul helped India Under-23 register a comfortable 84-run victory over Nepal in the ACC Emerging Teams Cup here at The Padang ground on Tuesday. Today's victory took India into the semi-finals.
This was India's second successive win in Group A. They had beaten Pakistan in the first match. India face Afghanistan in the final league game on August 22.
Sent to bat first, India made 268/5 in 50 overs. Wicketkeeper-batsman Rahul top scored with 88 (123 balls, 8x4, 2x6) while Yadav hit a 39-ball 65 (8x4, 2x6). Chand made 61 off 77 with the help of four boundaries and three sixes. Rahul and Chand had a 118-run partnership for the first wicket.
It was an impressive all-round show by Yadav, who also took 1/21 in eight overs with his medium-pace bowling. He was adjudged Man-of-the-match.
In reply, Nepal were kept to 184/8 in 50 overs. Offspinner Ankit Bawne took three wickets while pacemen Jasprit Bumrah (2/35) and Sandeep Warrier (2/7 in four overs) had two scalps apiece.
The semi-finals are on August 23 while the final is on August 25.
