Gautam Gambhir fails again for Essex

Manchester, Aug 27: Opener Gautam Gambhir, who is aiming to make a comeback to the Indian team, has failed in his three innings so far for Essex.

The left-hander signed for Essex county recently as there is no domestic cricket in India at the moment.

Since arriving in England, he has played three games (1 first-class and two 40-over games). In all three he has failed to score a half century.

In in his latest innings, he had just 2 runs in a one day game of the Yorkshire Bank Pro 40 Championship against Lancashire.

Gambhir was out for only 2 after Essex captain James Foster elected to bat at the Old Trafford ground on Monday (August 26). He lasted nine balls before being caught by Ashwell Prince at slip off opening fast bowler Kabir Ali.

Essex posted 297/4 in 40 overs thanks to Ravi Bopara 's 130. That set up a 40-run win for the team.

Gambhir had scored 31 in a first-class game against Northamptonshire and 21 against Derbyshire (40-over game).
