Melbourne, Aug 30: Australian all-rounder Steve Smith will return home from the ongoing tour of England because of a strain.
The 24-year-old sustained a minor left quad strain in training Wednesday and after a demanding Ashes Series, Cricket Australia (CA) decided Thursday (August 29) that it is best for him to return.
The CA said in a statement that there will be no replacement for Smith.
Smith was part of the Australian Test team which lost 0-3 to England. He hit his maiden Test century during the series. Smith is the third player to return home from England after bowlers Ashton Agar and Jackson Bird.
