Mumbai, Sep 4: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has banned cheerleaders from Champions League Twenty20 tournament 2013.
According to reports, BCCI Working Committee meeting on Sunday (September 1) in Kolkata decided not to have cheerleaders for CLT20. The tournament runs from September 17 to October 6 in India.
After the spot-fixing scandal rocked Indian Premier League's (IPL) sixth edition, BCCI's interim president Jagmohan Dalmiya had announced "Operation Clean-Up" and it was his suggestion to keep cheerleaders out of IPL from 2014. Now, the same has got the nod for CLT20.
"There were various suggestions out of which one was about banning the cheerleaders. Nobody had any objection to this," a source told "MiD DAY".
So, next time a boundary or a six is scored and a wicket falls, there won't be music and dances from the cheer girls at the boundary ropes.
