Pakistan rout Zimbabwe in first Test

Harare, Sep 7: Spinners Saeed Ajmal and Abdur Rehman took four wickets apiece to power Pakistan to a massive 221-run victory over Zimbabwe in the first Test here on Saturday.


Chasing 342 runs to win, Zimbabwe were bowled for just 120 runs in 46.4 overs on the fifth and final day at the Harare Sports Club. Elton Chigumbura was the top scorer with 28.

Ajmal completed a 10-wicket haul for the match. He had taken seven in the first innings. His match total was 11 wickets.

Zimbabwe had taken the first innings lead but Younis Khan kept them out of the match with a double century (200 not out) in the second essay. Thanks to his efforts, Pakistan declared at 419/9. Younis won the Man-of-the-match award.

This is a two-match series. The second and final Test will be played at the same venue from September 10.
