Mandeep Singh ruled out of Challengers

Mumbai, Sep 24: Batsman Mandeep Singh as been ruled out of NKP Salve Challenger Trophy due to a finger injury, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced.

Mandeep will be replaced in the India Red squad by Sibsankar Roy of Assam. Right-handed batsman Mandeep is ruled out of action for three weeks.

"Mandeep Singh has sustained a finger injury, and has been ruled out of action for three weeks. The All-India Senior Selection Committee have replaced him with Sibsankar Roy (Assam) in the India Blue squad for the NKP Salve Challenger Trophy. The tournament will be played at Indore from 26 September 2013 to 29 September 2013," BCCI said in a media release.

Few days back, left-arm paceman Irfan Pathan was also ruled out of the tournament due to injury. He was to captain India Red but his brother Yusuf was handed the leadership role after his injury.

The opening match of the tournament is between Delhi and India Blue. Three teams are in the fray. All matches are in Indore.
