On Thursday (October 4), the selection committee picked a 15-member squad.
West Indies will play two Tests and three One Day Internationals. The participation of left-arm fast bowler Sheldon Cottrell is subject to him being passed as fit by the WICB's Medical Panel to go on the tour.
Edwards, who is currently captaining the West Indies A side against India A in the three-match unofficial 'Test' series, has enjoyed a good run of form. Another player in the 'A' squad is also rewarded with Test call-up. Wicketkeeper Chadwick Walton has been chosen.
The 28-year-old Edwards has played nine Tests. His last Test was against England in May, 2012.The second and final Test of the series will be a historic one as Sachin Tendulkar will complete 200 Tests.
