Hubli (Karnataka), Oct 9: Zaheer Khan managed just one wicket but Abhishek Nayar and Dhawal Kulkarni starred with the ball to put India A on top on the opening day of the third and final unofficial 'Test' against West Indies A here on Wednesday.
The Mumbai bowling duo of Nayar and Kulkarni took four and three wickets respectively as the visitors were bowled out for 268 in 77.4 overs. At stumps on the opening day, India A were 10/0 in 5 overs. VA Jagadeesh (8 not out) and Gautam Gambhir (2 not out) are at the crease.
Number three batsman Leon Johnson topscored for West Indies A with 81. He hit 15 boundaries in his 148-ball stay at the wicket. Assad Fudadin's 47 was the next best.
The day, however, belonged to two Indian bowlers - Nayar and Kulkarni. Nayar returned with figures of 4/61 in 20.4 overs after captain Cheteshwar Pujara won the toss and elected to field. Kulkarni ended with 3/60 in 16 overs.
Zaheer bowled 15 overs with five maidens. His bowling figures were 1/33.
West Indies A lead the three-match series 1-0 after having won the opening game in Mysore. The second game was drawn in Shimoga.
