Bangalore, Oct 20: The Indian selectors on Sunday showed faith in the same set of 15 players to play in the last four One Day Internationals of the ongoing series against Australia.
"The All-India Senior Selection Committee has decided to retain the same team, for the last four ODIs of the ongoing series against Australia," BCCI's secretary Sanjay Patel said in a media release today.
Many were surprised to see Ishant Sharma being picked for the rest of the rubber. The right-arm paceman has been going through a rough patch in the three matches with a combined figures of 2/189 in 24 overs.
India are trailing 1-2 against the George Bailey-led side. Despite MS Dhoni's superb 139 not out, India were handed a four-wicket defeat by the visitors on Saturday night (October 19) at Mohali's PCA Stadium.
Ishant was taken for 30 runs by James Faulkner in the 48th over of Australia's chase of 304. The Delhi seamer has come in for heavy criticism from former cricketers and fans.
Despite him being part of the 15, he might find it difficult to continue in the playing XI. If Dhoni backs him, it will be a huge surprise.
The fourth ODI is in Ranchi on October 23.
