Ranchi, Oct 23: Rain played spoilsport as the fourth One Day International between India and Australia was abandoned here on Wednesday.

Chasing 296 to win, India were 27/0 in 4.1 overs when rain stopped play. After having waited for more than two hours, the match officials decided to call off the game.

Earlier, captain George Bailey (98) and Glenn Maxwell (92) helped Australia recover from early jolts and post 295/8 in 50 overs.

At the JSCA International Stadium on Wednesday, Australia were rocked early by Mohammed Shami with a three-wicket burst but the repair work was done by Bailey and Maxwell to take them closer to 300.
