Sydney, Oct 24: Opener David Warner blasted a record Australian one-day score in the Ryobi Cup preliminary final here on Thursday.
Warner, who has been out of the national team, sent a strong message to the selectors by smashing a brilliant 197 off 141 balls with 20 fours and 10 sixes for New South Wales Blues against Victoria Bushrangers.
Warner broke another left-hander Jimmy Maher's (Queensland) domestic one-day record of 187. Today's knock at the North Sydney Oval saw Warner scoring 140 off his 197 in boundaries.
As a result of Warner's incredible innings, NSW easily chased down a big target of 322 in the final over. NSW entered the final and will face Queensland Bulls on Sunday at the same venue.
Warner went for a big hit to reach double hundred but was caught at deep square-leg by Jon Holland off John Hastings. When Warner departed in the 49th over, his team needed just three runs to win.
This was the 26-year-old left-hander's third hundred in the tournament in four innings. Prior to today's innings his scores were 32, 138 and 139.
