Ranchi, Oct 24: As India captain MS Dhoni was busy playing the fourth One Day International against Australia here, unidentified persons targeted his house and pelted stones at it on Wednesday evening.
According to a report on "CNN IBN", nobody was hurt in the incident. The report added that Dhoni's family denied the incident had anything to do with the match in his hometown's JSCA International Stadium.
Australia scored 295/8 in 50 overs and in reply India were 27/0 in 4.1 overs when rain interrupted play. There was no further possibility of action and the match had to be abandoned.
Dhoni's brother-in-law Gautam Gupta said they will have to check CCTV footage to find out who were the culprits behind this attack and what really happened. He added that it was the fifth time the house was attacked.
"Someone pelted stones at the house. We'll have to check the CCTV footage to find out what happened. We were returning after watching the match when this happened," Dhoni's brother-in-law was quoted as saying in the report.
It can be recalled that a similar incident had happened in 2007 during the World Cup in the Caribbean. Angry fans attacked Dhoni's house after India's first-round exit from the World Cup six years ago.
