India's tour of SA starts on December 5

Mumbai, Oct 30: India's tour of South Africa will start with the One Day Internationals from December 5, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Wednesday.

India will play three ODIs and two Tests during their tour. The venues and dates were finalised today by BCCI and Cricket South Africa (CSA).

The Test series will commence on December 18. They also play a two-day practice match before Tests, from December 14 in Benoni.

The second and final Test will be on Boxing Day (December 26) at Johannesburg's Wanderers Stadium. The venue will also host the first ODI.

After a long wait due to differences with CSA, BCCI had announced the tour programme last week. Originally they were to play in December and January but now it is a shortened tour of 29 days.

As per the ICC's Future Tours Programme (FTP), India were to play three Tests, seven ODIs and two Twenty20 Internationals. But issues related to CSA appointing Haroon Lorgat as its CEO had put the tour in jeopardy.

The Indian team will arrive in South Africa on December 2. It is a hectic schedule for the team as they finish the ODI series against West Indies at home on November 27 and five days later they will be in South Africa. After this, Team India will travel to New Zealand in January.
