Mumbai, Nov 14: It was Sachin Tendulkar's last match but a first for one special person - his mother Rajni.
In his 24-year international career, Tendulkar's mother had never been to the stadium to watch his son play. But this being Tendulkar's farewell international game at the Wankhede Stadium, the Master Blaster wanted her to see him for the first and final time in India shirt live.
Rajni, who needs a wheeel-chair to move around, arrived Thursday, the first day of the second Test between India and West Indies. She was seen holding "Sachin Forever" poster at the venue.
This is Tendulkar's record 200th and final Test. Along with Tendulkar's mother, his wife Anjali, children Arjun and Sara were also at the venue.
India captain MS Dhoni had won the toss and elected to field. But the family and his fans soon got to watch Tendulkar bat in the final session of play on the opening day.
West Indies were bowled out for 182. At 3.33 PM Tendulkar walked out to a standing ovation from the packed stadium. West Indies players and umpires Nigel Llong and Richard Kettleborough gave the retiring batsman a guard of honour.
