Bangalore, Nov 19: India batsman Rohit Sharma paid rich tributes to the retired Sachin Tendulkar calling him his "guiding light" and considers himself "blessed" to have known the Master Blaster.

Tendulkar retired from international cricket after playing his 200th Test at his home ground - Wankhede Stadium. He exactly played 24 years and 1 day for Team India at the international level.

In Tendulkar's farewell series against the West Indies, Rohit made his debut and scored back-to-back hundreds, only the second Indian to achieve the feat.

Two days after his retirement, Rohit took the micro-blogging site Twitter to express his appreciation for his former Mumbai team-mate. Rohit has changed his profile picture on Twitter with a new one where he is seen talking to Tendulkar.

"It took two days for it to hit me that @sachin_rt won't be playing with us anymore," tweeted Rohit on Monday evening (November 18).

"U mean more to me than I can put into words.I will miss you out on the field & in the dressing room ur absence will be felt," he wrote in another tweet.

Rohit thanked Tendulkar for being his "guiding light" in good and bad times.

"Thank u for always being my guiding light in good times & bad.U truly are one in a billion lifetimes & I'm blessed to know u. Thank u for the inspiration over the years."
